after Nature - humboldt forum Berlin The Humboldt Lab’s inaugural Exhibition 2021-2023

The Humboldt Lab’s inaugural exhibition After Nature is inspired by the swarm intelligence of Danionella cerebrum - a new model system for neuroscience that I have established during my PhD. The exhibition deals with the interdependencies of climate change and the loss of biodiversity and with worldwide challenges to democratic principles of order. It puts together in the form of a modern chamber of curiosities an entire range of research approaches to current issues and relates them to positions from the history of science. In September 2022, the exhibition has counted more than 100’000 visitors.

LISANNE SCHULZE & SOUNDLAB ASIA PACIFIC at Feeka Kuala lumpur jan 2016

The photographic exhibition by Lisanne Schulze was organised in cooperation with the Goethe Institut Malaysia, Bordermovement and DetourAsia. The showcase was accompanied by the 15 international musicians that have been documented by the photographer creating music in the rainforest close to Seremban for over 2 weeks. Live performances by Nadia Reid, Born In Flamez, Similar Objects and Vandetta.

SoundLab is an initiative by Goethe-Institut, BorderMovement and Detour Asia, supported by Red Bull, KRK & Ableton. Fifteen musicians from Myanmar, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany stayed in the rainforest resort, the Dusun, for 10 days to work on music and explore ways to collaborate, create and connect. Berlin-based photographer, Lisanne Schulze, documented the project and exhibited stunning pictures, drawing the musicians working together, in Kuala Lumpur. The participating musicians were given no guidelines on how to collaborate. They improvised based on their genre preferences breaking away from the usual music patterns and electronic soundscapes. Photos and Performances were open to the public.

Roman Liška’s Research ‘n Motion at DUVE Berlin Sept./ Oct. 2013

"Liška is interested in the cooperative effort of artistic and cultural production, and the show functioned like a pop-up project space built on the foundations of a supportive network of friends and collaborators. Fortunately, he has an eye for interesting people – like designer David Rudnick, who was commissioned to produce the show’s limited edition invites which consisted of a red, liquid-filled, plastic pouch (questionably reminiscent of a blood bag), with a poem about art, Judaism and Berlin’s infamous Berghain nightclub printed on the back. For the opening event, Liška invited musician Born In Flamez to perform. Then, for the first week of the show, the gallery was turned into the workshop of the design company starstyling (Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried). The following weeks included: presentations from the Martinique project space ‘espace d’art contemporain 14ºN 61ºW’; an installation by artist Gesa Troch; a presentation by choreographer Peter Pleyer; music by Lina Lapelyte; interdisciplinary works by Nina Wakeford and photographs by Lisanne Schulze, who documented artists’ contributions, memorializing each event in the gallery on the modular walls’ remaining blank sides." - frieze
